Digital Media in my day-to-day life
Digital media platforms play a huge role in my day-to-day life. Like a lot of people today, I tend to use my phone for everything short of breathing. I use it to talk to my friends, to look up information, to stay caught up on the newest trends, etc.
I use quite a few different apps/websites each day. The most common ones are TikTok, Instagram, X, Spotify, and my Email. I find myself checking Instagram and X more times a day than I would like to admit, but I do use it to stay up to date on my friends and family's lives. I check my email at least 3 times a day in order to make sure I'm not missing anything important, school/work-related. Throughout the day, I almost always have Spotify running in the background. I am always listening to music throughout my day, while working, studying, exercising, etc. At night, I use TikTok as a method of relaxation. After a long day, there is nothing better than lying in bed watching funny videos.
I would say I have a pretty positive reaction to digital media, depending on the platform I am using at the time. For example, Spotify, for me, is a great tool. Listening to music really helps me focus on the task at hand. Sometimes social media can be a great thing; for example, some videos on TikTok and Instagram could be educational and helpful to watch. like life hacks, for example. On the other hand, just scrolling endlessly through those apps can be a waste of time. It's good the find a healthy balance of the two that work best for you.
In today's world, Digital Media plays one of the biggest roles in marketing. Everywhere you look, you see advertisements for different companies and ideas. On nearly every social media platform, you will find a multitude of ads and sponsored videos. Most of these ads are directed to you and your interests to try to get you to interact with them. While sometimes they can get annoying, it is a great way for a company to reach a broader audience.
Digital Media has played a huge part in my whole life. Without even realizing it, we let the media take over our day-to-day lives, and as long as we are careful about how we use it, I believe it's a great tool to utilize.
